ACTIVITIES IN 2013-2014
Undergraduate Training in Community Nutrition (Community Nutrition Practicum)
- Objective: To train senior Nutrition and Dietetics students in the field of Community Nutrition and Public Health and record valid data that will serve as references for future nutrition intervention or projects.
Students are expected to:
- Assess the nutrition status of households using the WHO-Child Growth Standards and BMI for Adults and obtain Household Baseline Information (HBI),
Identify the nature and magnitude of malnutrition in the community based on the analyzed and interpreted HBI data,
Make an intervention/care plan for families with malnourished children/members,
Plan, implement and evaluate micro-programs which are feasible and sustainable for the community,
Assist and cooperate in the on-going nutrition related nutrition activities in the community,
Generate/mobilize human, material and financial resources for CNP programs, projects and activities, and
Produce a written report of accomplishments.
It is a 250 hour practical training for senior Nutrition and Dietetics Students. They were assigned in 9 barangays in Laguna and 2 barangays in Quezon City. They have done several nutrition interventions such as: family care plan in nutrition, nutrition education activities, nutrition assessment and evaluation. A total of 235 students undergone the training.
Nutrition and Health Kiddie Class
Nutrition and Health Kiddie Class (NHKC) is the flagship program of NFP. NHKC aims to teach children 3-4 years old Nutrition and Health. It is a class done twice or three times a week in a daycare center. Mother Coordinators are volunteers trained by NFP teach in the class.

There were 939 total graduates in 11 areas in Quezon City and 14 areas in Alaminos, Laguna.
Nutrition Kiddie Class
This is a joint partnership with Children International Inc. Manila with 6-11 year old students who are sponsored children of the said organization (Children International, Manila).

Environment and effects of smoking
NFP is part of the planning, monitoring and evaluation program: Development of Modules and activity sheets; Activity Sheets; Monitoring of Classes and the facilitation of the Focus Group Discussion. NFP is also part of the monitoring and evaluation of the program. There were 351 students who have graduated in the program.
- Training for Volunteer Facilitators of the Nutrition and Health Kiddie Class and Nutrition Kiddie Class. They were trained on classroom management, and module implementation.
